A rustic door leads to the courtyard of this lovely stone structure in the mountain village of Monodendri, Greece.
About Monodendri:
Monodendri (Μονοδένδρι) is a village in the Epirus region of mainland Greece. It is located 41 km (25 miles) north of the city of Ioannina and sits at an altitude 1060 meters (3478 feet). The village retains much of its traditional stone-built architecture. The local craftsmen of Epirus used stone and wood for the construction of their houses, many of which are well-maintained to this day. Near the village, the historic monastery of Agia Paraskevi sits on the edge of the Vikos Gorge.

This scene is so rich in texture…lovely!
Thanks, Sandy. The entire village is filled with stone houses. This style fits so well in a mountain setting.
Oh, here you are – maybe I overlooked it, but didn’t see you on the link list of Doors…? Like the stones – are they naturally white, or painted?
Would love white if it would be stone and not stucco or woodsiding. As always great doors, Donna:)
Thanks, Jesh. I wondered the same about the stones when looking at the photo. They look painted, but I can’t be sure. When taking the photo I was more captivated by the setting with the door, flower box, blue shutters, and other details accenting the stone structure. The place looked so inviting. The door opens to a large courtyard with lovely decor. There was no signage. I don’t know if this was a hotel or private residence, so didn’t linger for too long. Thanks for stopping by!
This photo is one I had to stop and look at for a couple of minutes in order to appreciate that magnificent stone work, the handsome door, and the spot of color with the blue shutters. Perfect Thursday door. 🙂
Thank you, Judy. The owners of this property have nicely decorated the place and paid a lot of attention to detail.
Your door is wonderful – but you also gave us more of that Greek blue I am so used to and the whole shot is a nice angle and I like the vibe you give us
Many thanks for your nice comment. I’m glad you could feel the welcoming vibe of the place.
🙂
What a lovely setting and perfectly captured too. Great shot 🙂
Thanks, Norm.
