While I’m not Greek, I’m a lucky gal married to a Greek, and love all things Greek, especially Greek food. It’s an annual tradition for us to celebrate my birthday with a classic Greek meal of grilled lamb chops with baklava for dessert. Ah, the sweet taste of satisfaction when I bite into a juicy, medium-rare lamb chop spritzed with lemon – simply delicious.
For special occasions, my favorite Greek Restaurant in Silicon Valley is Evvia Estiatorio in Palo Alto, followed by my second choice, Dio Deka in Los Gatos. During the year, we most often eat at Opa! in Los Altos and Santa Clara where dogs are welcome on the patio. For quick, casual lunches, the Greek Spot in Sunnyvale, and Mikonos Grill in Milpitas are our go-to places.
Below are a few photos of my scrumptious birthday dinners last year and the year before. Yum. I’m getting hungry looking at them.
Evvia Estiatorio
Arnisia Paidakia – A half order of rib-cut, mesquite-grilled lamb chops with olive oil lemon roasted potatoes.
Baklava – Traditional baklava drizzled with honey syrup served with vanilla ice cream.
Opa! Authentic Greek Cuisine
Paidakia/Lamb Chops – Premium, freshly cut Thomas Farms Australian lamb chops smothered in fresh herbs & drenched in a lemon juice vinaigrette with a side of grilled mizithra corn.
Baklava – Layers of phyllo dough, walnuts, cinnamon, sugar, & Greek honey.
