South of San Jose is the colorful historic town of Mission San Juan Bautista. It’s a place filled with Spanish-influenced color and architecture, and stone, wooden, and western false front early California structures. The town is situated in an unspoiled agricultural valley along the San Andreas Fault. When in San Juan Bautista, visitors feel like they’ve stepped back in time to a slower paced, simpler life.
On my last visit to San Juan Bautista in September, I came across a variety of colorful doors to share with you for Norm Frampton’s Thursday Doors Feature. The collage in the featured image captures the Spanish-influenced colors of San Juan Bautista. Enjoy!

Have a good day!
OMGosh! I’ve been there a thousand times or more and never saw any of these beautiful images! NOT ONCE!! I am so blind! Without you, I would never see these beautiful vignettes of the town. I never saw these,,,ever. I always see the BIG WIDE VIEW or the very MACRO VIEW. What’s in between…I need you to show me. Thank you!!
I really missed all this! ??? I thought I could see! You have shown me I do not!
Hi Deborah, You made my day. I’m always happy when my photos show a new perspective to a well-traveled place. There is always so much to see in the big wide view in San Juan Bautista that it’s not hard to miss the details. I’ve also been many times and the last time I was there was the first time I paid attention to and photographed the details. It’s these details that are now my favorite photos of San Juan Bautista, although I do love everything about this town and Mission, especially the doors.

Wow, some absolute beauties in this place! My vote goes to the well-worn historic door at #115 but they are all winners. Bravo on some exceptional finds 🙂
Thanks, Norm. I’m glad you enjoyed the doors of San Juan Bautista. Nothing better than the character of a well-worn door!
